Research focus
The major research field includes green injection molding of materials-saving, energy-saving based technologies such as gas-assisted injection molding, microcellular injection foaming and thin-wall molding, etc.. In the last decade, concerns were focused on the knowledge-based smart manufacturing service system for plastic mold and injection molding. In the past thirty years, there are 159 SCI published Journal papers and 60 patents. Host NSTC projects 100 cases with grants of NT$ 230,106,060, conduct Industry-sponsored projects of 202 cases with grants of NT$ 146,694,196. In the last eighteen years, total MOE and MOEA projects with grants about NT$ 100,255,725 were received. Moreover, licensing fee for technology transfer achieved NT$ 27,834,000.
The major achievements in industrial projects include helping Yulong Automotive manufacturing Cowel top part for March Vehicle; assisting Zanini delivering defect-free Benz LOGO parts suitable for nano-sputtering coating, hosting digital transform of wafer carriers and reticles using green and smart injection molding for Gudong company as well as establishing a decent smart manufacturing demo factory at CYCU.
Experience sharing
The academic research used to more focusing on basic or theoretical work. For the small and medium companies, they were facing immediate problem-solving. It was difficult for them to develop long-term strategies and this really challenged the scholars to practice the applications in the industry. It was even harder to know the cutting edge innovation and lead the industry to transform. However, aimed at the technology developing trend which can benefit the whole human being and society, and insisted on long term efforts like climbing various mountains, and final goal will be achieved.
